The skin of gopher is nothing like snake. With snake, there are edges,
the venom, a cold simplicity. Gopher is fat. I pull it up through my palms
until they leech together, the pink salt of my hands and the clean fat of
the skin. My nose works like a switchblade. I can smell the small pride of

Met a lovely girl/made a new sister/friend in Austin, Texas a year-ish or so back when I was traveling through. Just found out that she will be coming to the Northwest soon to continue her Life journey and was reminded about a mini-hitchhike adventure that she documented. It can be found under Portfolios -> Maps & Narrow Escapes. Kelly Hawkins Photography specializing in unconventional portraiture, editorial and music photography

Dear lovelies,
Prepare to get your internet hands greasy with me. Since the lady and I will be beginning a new phase of travel beauty in our new camper come Summer, I have decided that it is my lover-responsibility to finally take charge and learn about the mechanical ins and outs of our new darling, Eden - a 1978 Toyota Pickup/Royal Holiday camper while she is finishing her internship at the herb farm. Since she keeps tabs on my tumblr, and I’m attempting to build our chariot in secrecy to surprise her when I pick her up in mid-June, I’m creating an ultra-secret tumblr to document - step by step - all of the problems/modifications/repairs/etc that I make to Eden. If you are interest in following along on my clumsy journey, please send me a message and I’ll provide you with the link! Mister Wood Buzzard is about to become a “full-fledged” mechanic, electrician, carpenter, jack-of-all-camper-related-trades vessel of knowledge (insert hesitant laughter/sarcasm)! Aho!

Meet Eden, the lady & my 1978 Toyota camper that I got for $500. Going to spend the next month giving her a spray paint overhaul of circus-y magnificence, building solar panels for the roof, and entirely re-designing the inside of the camper to fit our needs. Then she’ll be ready for us to take off in late June to head to Rainbow in Montana and our full, full, full Summer of love, life and learning.

I hitchhiked from Williams, Oregon to Yakima, Washington over the past couple days. Upon arriving in town, I found this little guy abandoned on the sidewalk. I believe he’s a starling. I couldn’t find the nest or mother anywhere, so I’ve been feeding him every 45 minutes with a set of tweezers and he rides around on my shoulder/in my top hat.

Welcome the new member of Swiss Family Wood Buzzard, Takubeh!

Tim and I made a primitive shelter when we were camping in Packwood, because it rained the whole second day and night.

As a bonus, I found five white truffles while I was rolling up carpets of moss! We did our best to restore the area to it’s original placement and leave as little of a footprint as possible.

The deer skin we all skinned together and Cole tanned. It turned out wonderfully and now serves as a new seat cover in their westfalia.

Dear Tumblr dears,

I need to make $4,000 in two and 1/2 months, to pay off some small court debt and purchase a van to live in for this next year of traveling.

I would like to do this in either Hood River, Portland, Salem, Eugene or somewhere along that general West side of Oregon, as the ladyface is in Southern Oregon. I also need a yard, forest, spot of land to have a tent and two cats while I make this money.

This work cannot include prostitution, robbing banks or anything terribly illegal ;), but I am very slowly coming to terms with the fact that it will likely be a shitty warehouse job with long hours and no life. So, Oregon lovelies, if you could give me anything you can think of, I would appreciate it. Much love!!

…you know you’re a hobo/homebum/etc. when you can tell a lot about a person from their cigarette butts/snipes.
osw

Then I wrote songs
on a sad guitar
about the even sadder boats and ships
that shipwrecked on the seashore
never looked for more
the anchor never got a chance to hold
much of anything.

But then,
there’s the starfish, starry sky
barnacle belly of the whale
beautiful thing
called a place to call Home.

Maybe they didn’t want the ocean,
though built for such things.

I cannot blame anything
for doing what makes them happy.

in my house are many mansions
I dress them up
in seafoam green and
moss covered eyelid shaped
holes peering out my head

looking for the signs
until I’ve stared for so long
at something
it becomes one
and I say “There you are, Peter.”

I never stopped clapping my hands
because I always believed
in You
and me
and Us
that this could be done Forever
if we tried

Great Love
is the way we Are together.
